The course
Royal County Down sits along Dundrum Bay in Newcastle, with the Mourne Mountains rising behind the dunes. The original layout was laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1889 and the Championship links is known for its blind drives, bearded bunkers, and tumbling fairways set among the gorse. It has hosted the Irish Open and the 2015 Walker Cup.
Signature hole: The par-3 4th plays toward the Mourne Mountains over a sea of gorse, with the Slieve Donard hotel and Dundrum Bay framing the green.
